Colorado has approximately 104,093 sq miles to call home. On that land, Colorado is home to 11.67 billion live trees according to a study from 2017. Here in the Intermountain West, we have a complex terrain. Depending on the time of year our climate can be unpredictable. From below-zero temperatures in the thick of winter, or triple digits in the middle of summer. Colorado’s climate plays a role in what species thrive and what ones are endangered such as the Tamarisk species. This species of tree requires up to 1 extra foot of water compared to the native cottonwood species.

A Cottonwood Tree is a very typical species you will find in our state. Here in Colorado, we have a great mix of various tree species. Our landscapes contain trees such as Blue Spruces, Douglas Firs, Ponderosa Pines, Aspens, and Piñon-junipers.

Can you guess the name of one of Colorado's oldest known tree species that is named after our glorious Rocky Mountains?  The species is named the Rocky Mountain Bristlecone Pine. This species is said to be around 2,500 years old. It would be interesting to see how different our state would have looked that long ago.

Trees have so many uses from improving the quality of air, to providing shelter to Colorado’s wildlife. Maybe you're keeping your trees around for property value, or maybe to save some money on your energy bill! Whatever your reason is, Young's Seasonal Services is here to help you maintain your trees all year long.
